MEET NORMA

Norma Mejia Boccabella, received her Master of Arts degree from New York University New York, NY, in May 2000. There she majored in Human Sexuality Child and Family Studies at the School of Education. She also graduated from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, College of Arts & Sciences, with a Bachelor of Arts dual undergraduate degree in Spanish Literature & Psychology in December 1995.
From 1995 through 1999 she produced and hosted, El Show de Norma Ashley, in the Dominican Republic. This Spanish talk show centered on youth issues and problems in the Spanish community, and aired locally in the Dominican Republic on Channel 13 and on Telemundo Channel 47 in the United States. Norma is fluent in both English and Spanish.
From 2006 to 2011 she was co-owner of Rockin Kidz Couture, a designer clothing and accessories website for kids, that specialized in gift boxes for all special occasions (www.rockinkidzcouture.com).
In 2012 Norma along with her family launched, Natural Necessity (www.natural-necessity.com), a natural vitamin company that encourages you to use your natural instinct. Norma currently belongs to the American Association of Family Therapy as an associate member and is working towards clinical membership. After 10 years in Sleepy Hollow, he now lives in Charleston SC with her husband & college sweetheart Todd and is the mother of three boys, Emilio Max (2002), Lorenzo Rey (2004) and Nico Tod (2006).
In 2012 she received her kids yoga teaching certificate from Karma Yoga Kids, NYC. She is thrilled to be have taught at Riverstone Yoga studio and Scarsdale Yoga Studio NY, Alcott Nursery school, Transfiguration School, Saw Mill Club, NYSC (Dobbs ferry Kids Club), and Holy Name of Jesus in Vallhalla, NY.
Since moving to Charleston, she has a home studio, has taught at Buist Academy, Sullivan Island Elementary as well
as various on location workshops, at beaches, parks, group settings and private homes.
Norma loves that she can take her extensive training and education in family studies and apply it to her kids yoga programs. "I am look forward to giving individual attention to all my students. Yoga has been a big part of my life for the last 20 plus years and I am so blessed to share this passion with a new generation of mini yogis. I have been implementing my practice & strategies with my boys and I can honestly say I see a difference in their attention span, motivation, and energy level. I have notice a change in their behavior and a vast improvement in their ability to handle difficult situations through their yoga practice.Norma has a lot of experience when it comes to working with kids, teaching them to be healthy and motivated has always been one of her strong suits.
In 2016 she received her UNNATA Aerial Yoga teacher certification and in 2017 she completed the Second Level UNNATA Aerial certification as well. Norma is flying over the moon to be teaching aerial yoga to students of all ages.
